What is CBD?
CBD or cannabidiol is found in the cannabis plant. Through a CO2 extraction process, CBD is created from industrial hemp and it’s one of the major cannabinoids that can have positive effects for your health.
What are the effects of CBD and how long does it take to work?
You won’t experience any ‘high’ with CBD, as it doesn’t have psychoactive components. It’s possible that you might feel reduction in pain, more relaxed and suffer less tremors. If you take the recommended dosage, you can feel the effects of CBD in between 20 to 30 minutes.
How does CBD work?
CBD activates receptors in the brain and nervous system, which is called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This can have a positive effect on your health. It doesn’t activate the same receptors as THC, thus there isn’t any intoxicating effect.
Is there a difference between Marijuana and Hemp?
Yes, there is a difference between marijuana and hemp and this lies in their profile. Although they are from the same plant, which is the Cannabis Sativa, marijuana can also come from Cannabis indica or Cannabis ruderalis. Industrial hemp has long stalks and you won’t find flowering buds, while marijuana does have flowering buds and can be small and bushy. Some hemp varieties that are grown in the USA do have more flowers now. The major difference between marijuana and hemp is the THC and CBD amounts. Marijuana has a high THC content and low amounts of CBD. Meanwhile, hemp has low traces of THC and high amounts of CBD. The uses for the two plants vary. Marijuana is used recreationally and spiritually; hemp can be used as a food and herbal supplement.
